Slow-Cooker-Turkey-Breast-02I had such a great response from my previous slow cooker recipe (slow cooker honey chicken) that I thought I’d go back to that well and find a slow cooker recipe that is Thanksgiving friendly.  This one is a healthy alternative to the carb-heavy mainstays of turkey day.  The key to avoiding major weight gains on a heavy-eating day like Thanksgiving is to plan ahead.   Don’t just sit at the table and start chowing away, have a gameplan.  Think ahead about what you will and won’t eat and decide how much you’re going to eat (I recommend stopping at one plate).   Continue reading “Slow Cooker Turkey Breast”

costofobesityThe news media shocks us on a daily basis with graphic images of war and violence across the globe.  We see gruesome vidoes of mangled cityscapes and mourners in anguish.  The fear of terrorism grips the globe and the cost of war weighs heavy on international treasuries.  The cost of fighting terrorist and waging war has a ripple effect that spreads to the citizens of every country across the globe.  Every dollar spent on weapons is a dollar taken away from medicine for the sick and food for the hungry.  Every destroyed city block requires rebuilding that takes away resources for constructive pursuits.   You know about these costs, but did you know that the costs of obesity are nearly as great?
